Tallywise Privacy Policy

Tallywise ("the app") is made by Technocrux ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Tallywise on Android or Windows.

Summary

Tallywise does not collect, store, or share any of your personal data on our servers. We have no servers for the app. Everything you enter stays on your device.

What the app stores, and where

The app stores the information you enter on your own device only:

  • accounts and balances
  • transactions and categories
  • budgets, bills and savings goals
  • loans and payment schedules
  • people you track in the ledger
  • your settings

We cannot see or access this information.

Information we do not collect

  • We do not require an account or sign-in.
  • We do not collect analytics, usage statistics, crash reports, advertising identifiers or location.
  • The app contains no ads and no third-party tracking.

Backups and exports

When you choose to create a backup, the app makes one file encrypted with a password you choose (AES-256-GCM with PBKDF2). You decide where to keep it, for example Google Drive, OneDrive, WhatsApp, email or a USB drive. That service's own privacy policy then applies to the file. Without your password, nobody (including us) can open the backup.

PDF and CSV exports are not encrypted. They go only where you send them.

Reminders to other people

If you share a payment reminder with someone (for example through WhatsApp), the app prepares the message and your device's share sheet sends it. We do not see it.

Permissions

  • Notifications (Android and Windows): to remind you before bills and loan payments are due.
  • Biometrics (optional): to unlock the app with your fingerprint or Windows Hello. Biometric data never leaves your device's secure hardware, and the app never receives it.
  • File access (only when you choose): to save or open backup and export files.

App lock

If you set a PIN, only a scrambled check of it (a salted hash) is stored on your device, never the PIN itself.

Children

Tallywise is intended for adults managing their own money and is not directed at children.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your device. Backup files you made yourself are not affected; delete them wherever you stored them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and in the app's store listing.
